Hardware Mecca was established as a CC in March 1995 when the company bought all the assets of De Witt & Thaele Hardware (Pty) Ltd, a private company with branches in QwaQwa and Harrismith. In 1998 the CC was converted to a private company. Another company, Truss Mecca (Pty) Ltd was established in 1998 and specialises in the manufacturing and supplying of roof trusses according to the ITC standards.
Hardware Mecca is a family owned company now in its second generation of management.
The initial founder of the company is now retired and with his wife serve as the directors of the company. They also provide valuable advice and guidance to the current management.
The company (according to 2012 audited financial statements) now boasts assets of R23 million and a turnover of R73 million.
