The Importance of looking after your Beauty And Health

The beauty industry is worth billions of rand, often promising much more than it can actually deliver. However, looking after your beauty and health should be high on your list of priorities. Caring about your appearance often has indirect benefits for your health and is important for the emotional well-being of both men and women.

Beauty and health are also linked in other ways. By focusing on one, the other is often also achieved, as is explained by the following examples.

Healthy diet

Eating a varied diet, rich in fruits and vegetables with moderate amounts of protein and carbohydrates and limiting sugar and fat, is beneficial to beauty and health. Following a balanced diet will not only keep your weight, cholesterol and blood pressure in check, which will make you healthier, but will also ensure clear and healthy skin, hair and nails, which will make you more beautiful.

Healthy food choices include at least five portions of fruit and vegetables per day, two portions of fish a week, lean protein, pulses and wholegrain foods.

Watch out for too much salt, which can raise your blood pressure and may lead to strokes or heart disease. Adults and children older than 11 should eat no more than 6 g of salt per day.

An active lifestyle

Exercising three or more times a week is essential for beauty and health. Exercise will not only help you to control your weight, but could also reduce the risk of health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, heart disease and stroke.

Being active, however, doesn’t necessarily mean slaving away at the gym. Incorporating more activity into your daily life, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking further away from your destination, or even walking the dog, all add up to your daily activity tally.

The most important thing is to find some activity that you enjoy doing. Exercise with a friend, go for a hike in a beautiful area, dance along to an aerobics DVD, or swim in the ocean.

The beauty benefits of water

Health experts recommend a daily intake of about 1.2 litres of fluid a day to prevent dehydration. A person constantly loses water from skin evaporation (sweat), breathing, urine and stool and these losses must be replaced.

Drinking water not only helps to maintain the balance of body fluids – which aids digestion, circulation and maintains body temperature to name a few – but can also help you to lose weight as a diet higher in water-rich food is more filling. It is also crucial for a beautiful, hydrated skin.

Water, milk and herbal teas all count, but alcoholic drinks, sugary soft drinks and even fruit juice should be avoided.

Health and Beauty Treatments

It is important to develop the right Health and Beauty habits to add years to your life.

The days we used to know our house doctor and go to him for every cure and ailment is in the past. We live in modern days where we would rather ask Google about our Health and Beauty treatments than our house doctors.

Although it’s important to go and see your doctor to make sure that you are in good health. Here are also a few things you can do at home to ensure your Health and Beauty treatment is up to date.

Number 1: Floss regularly

Flossing is good for your teeth, because it doesn’t just remove food it also gets rid of plaque, the bacterial film that flows between teeth and along the gums. You can prevent gum disease and tooth loss by flossing once a day.

Number 2: Stick to what you know

It’s good to test a few products to see what works for your skin. After you found what works for you, try to stick to it. It’s important to be constant when it comes to your skin.

Number 3: Exercise regularly

You’ll burn extra calories and regulate your weight and will help you prevent diseases like high blood pressure, heart disease and it will boost your immune system.

Number 4: Scrub once a week

Underneath the rough outer layer of your facial skin lies the beautiful silky skin, but you will need to exfoliate it regularly to regenerate your skin and encourage new cells. Scrub for radiant smooth skin.

Number 4: Drink more water

To balance your body fluids you will need to drink at least eight glasses of water each day.

Number 5: Eat healthier

Eating healthier will provide nutrients to your body and this will help your heart beating strong, your brain staying active and your muscles functioning.

These are a few easy things you can change in your daily routine to ensure your Health and Beauty treatments are up to scratch!

Beauty treatments for your big day

You have the venue and the dress you now need to get ready for your big day. This is the day that you want to look your best in every aspect of the word. You will definitely spend a few Rands on beauty treatments. The question is where to start.

I’ll say start at your hair treatment, because hair can take some time to look good. If your hair is damaged it is good to start with a few hair masks. You can get them at your hairdresser. She will probably be able to tell you what you need to do for your specific kind of hair. Hair is one of the first things people will see, because your dad will remove your vail and the emphasis will be on your hair. Healthy hair will make it easy for you to almost have any hairstyle you can think of for the big day.

The second thing you should start thinking about is your skin. Skin is one of the things that will automatically come right with contraception pills, but not in all cases. It is good to get a product that works for you skin and stick to this specific product. Skin is very sensitive and should be handled with care. Skin treatment for me is one of the things I don’t just do for my big day; I see it as an investment for my old age. You should spend money on your skin; it is the one organ everybody sees.

After you have all the above, it’s good to start looking for a good make-up artist or maybe ask one of your bridesmaids to go on a make-up course to help on the big day. Make-up is one of things I personally think should be natural on big occasions, because the photos will last forever. Go for a test and see what looks good on your face. Watch a few YouTube Videos for inspiration. Experiment with ideas.

If you have that sorted you are almost set for you big day. Hair removal is one of the biggest beauty treatments ladies think about when getting married. You will have to decide what will work for you, waxing, laser hair removal or just shaving. If waxing and laser is one of the options you are interested in. You will have to start with the treatment a few months before the wedding. You will have to talk to a beauticianist to get more information about the types of products available. Part of the hair removal treatment is also getting rid of hair down there; you will have to be careful, because the skin is sensitive. Do not apply anything in areas if you are not sure the product was tested and given to you by a professional.

I think that is the most important beauty treatments you will have to worry about. It sounds like a few, but when you start you will realise that it becomes more than just a treatment, it will have to become a habit or a life style for you to get the effect you’ll need for your big day.
